The Allman Brothers Band - Whipping Post
Loved this Album at the time, my boyfriend at the time got me into Country Joe.....am 70 now, but still remember almost every word of the brilliant songs...especially Jean Duprez...Never thought then, they would become SO relevant again! Many years later in the early 2.000's, By then my husband, He met Country Joe, his hero playing a one-man show on Southsea pier and had a chat....sadly he fell very ill and died just after, but he was SO chuffed that day. ( my name spells Michael, but Should be Michelle)
Bruce had that fat, perfect for a trio, sound just like Pappalardi (Mountain) Schacher (Grand Funk Railroad) and Butler (Black Sabbath)!
Shawn played the Old Le Hibou Coffee House in Ottawa and after one particularly long and complex song there was complete silence ... he broke into tears saying that was the greatest compliment to his music ever as it showed people were listening to every word and struggling to understand him
The whole (double LP) set was remarkable--played occasionally on old Detroit FM station WABX; I bought a 'safe keeping' backup in era before CD's; fortunately, the CD-reissue is not shabby (sounds like same mix as LP)....and 'tastes like colored rain' !
Que de souvenirs heureux 😂
Scotland, 80s. Bought the album 2nd hand because of cover. Still come back discreetly for a listen. Thanks S P. Tunes 😊
I too am a Gemini!
Wow! I haven't listened to this in 50 years! It still holds up. I love the orchestration, the jazzyness, and Shawn's voice. My kind parents drove myself and 3 other 16 year olds to London. Ontario to see him in concert in 1971, maybe 1972. He was great live. Ah, wonderful memories.
Such a great album and such a great voice.
I've love this song, it makes one think is what we see really truth even if everyone accepts it. Looked for this the last 10-15 yrs. Just didn't remember the name...
The build up then the low note on 6:15 👌👌👌
Craziest vibrato I think I've ever heard...seriously...
My favorite song by him. Saw him in KC, Mo back in the early 70's.
Amongst 10 best albums ever Storybook from begining to end
Her version of this classic the best
Her voice is so pretty❤
Steve has an amazing voice & you can hear the early guitar licks from Frampton on this cut. Check out Black Coffee to hear Steve’s amazing bluesy voice…
Agreed- I was at his concert in the Detroit area. A bar basically that usually played disco . He never had the recognition he deserved. I do my best
On Vancouver Island, a forest so old the last of her kind she is mighty and bold but the big blades now are mowing her down farewell, farewell to Clayoquot Sound well the NDP had made a big noise trying to play the big games with all the big boys so they sold out her soul for hardly a cent the raw timber's cut and elsewhere is sent blow the bridge down, blow the bridge down in the dead of the night sink it into the ground for the sake of the soul of Clayoquot Sound take a deep breath and blow the bridge down upwards of thousands have stood in the way but police just come and take them each day and the government too has its own saws they're changing the charges by changing the laws what of the spirits that live in the trees what of the life, the quiet, the breeze what of our planet when it's stripped to the ground farewell, farewell to Clayoquot Sound what of our planet when it's stripped to the ground farewell, farewell to Clayoquot Sound
Beautiful
Back before cell phones and CDs and PCs this once rare masterpiece was impossible to find anywhere. a buddy of mine had the only copy
What are: the Axis of Madness?
Great tune, great EP. Love the lyrics, the 'deadly sins' that you can fall into in a relationship.
Pride and Shame. Strong words in today's world.
Stoned days they were...
I so want to find a copy of this CD for less than $35
Love this song and always have since the moment heard it on his demo cassette tape that my firend who was his booking agent gave to me way back in the mid-70s. I was probably one of the first people to have heard his first album.
That bass jam is out of this 🌎
Great tune; I really like it
awesome message!!!
My college roommate (u of mn) 1973 put the arm up on her record player and had second contribution on free play! I guess it was love it or leave! As a music major from a very small MN. town, I, of course was smitten with his storytelling and vibrato. Exquisite
Incredible love song - my favourite Ian Tyson song
Brother had this album. Very few made.
Saw him in Duluth, MN back in the early '70's. How lucky were we to have him in our small city. I always head back to listen to his music when I want to hear a real artist.
saw him live in concert in Fayetteville Arkansas 1974
I found a old mp3 from ‘07 it only had this time on it. I thought it was amazing, I wore it out.
i remember listening to this masterpiece on CHOM FM 97.7.
me too
♥
Me three. CHOM was ultra cool in the 70’s and played lots of great music. It’s too bad those days are gone
Got alot of air play in Montreal thanks to CHOM FM
Loved CHOM in the early 70's. They also introduced me to Firesign Theater!
Who played pedal steel?
BJ Cole.
Takes me back every time to college. Great pieces. 2022 China Olympics pairs ice skating used "woman" ad their music and took me back instantly
Had this album at the University of Texas back in the early 70s. He came through Austin, went to it stoned, listened to this album until my bang and olfson turntable wore out. Cross between folk and jazz. Still a hidden jewel, not sure why
This is the most powerful anti-war song ever. The irony of military parades is that those who paid the most are never asked to march.
His first 4 albums are a gift to the world, waiting to be discovered still some 50 yrs later after their first release. I was lucky enough to have a couple older brothers who were into him back in 1970 and went to his concerts whenever he came thru Houston,TX. I'd sneak into their room and put the headphones on and listen to Shawn just sweep me away into a musical world of unbridled passion and joy...it was a magical time back in December, 1970...this LP and his third one will always have a special place in my heart.
His first two albums were cut for Columbia in the UK in 1965 and 1966 and are very hard to find.
This was one of my favourite albums back then and still is today😊😊😊😊😎😎😎👍👍👍👍
I am also from Houston and heard Sean Phillips singing for the first time in 1970. So many powerful songs knocked me off my feet then and do now. Howdy, Brian. :-)
THERE.r
I walked into a music store many years ago and was struck to the core by the song they had playing as background music. I asked who it was and it was the Wyrd Sisters. I bought the CD - Inside the Dreaming. Still one of my ALL TIME favourite CDs.
Similar case for me but unfortunately, I lost the CD and now I am looking for the title track. It is my favorite song. Can you upload inside the dreaming for me.
Words of wisdom from TBone!
This most brilliant piece of music has sustained me on and off for 40 years. It’s nearly impossible to find digitally so thank you 🙏🏼 astrom53. Thank you.
Cowboy 🤠
First song I got high too, guitars "pulled on my skin" for sure. Great memories.
A1😎
Singer song's like Christian's icon Larry Norman Really !!!!!! Lol This track is positivly feelgood mood too !!!!!!
Worked at a liquor store on Sunset Strip in the '70s. Perfect little tune for those times.
stunning song. i feel in love with this place. clayoquot sound is stunning. as for environmental nonsense comment: hard to understand that one can still deny what is written on the wall, we are destroying the planet. thank god for those people who go out and fight to save such pristine ecosystems.
Music talking almost, sightseeing world attempting
Lived it and loved it ...oh lucky lucky boy......giving women.
